Description

Nashville Golf and Country Club was established in 1901 at Elmington Avenue and Richland Pike (West End Avenue). 1902 saw the club’s first tournament and from that event was born the Southern Amateur Championship. In 1920 the club’s name was changed to Richland Country Club. Donald Ross redesigned the course in the 1930’s.
In September 1944, the first Nashville PGA Invitational Tournament was played at Richland and won by Byron Nelson. In 1945 the tournament was Ben Hogan’s first post World War II PGA tournament victory. Johnny Palmer won the following year.

July 1975 saw Richland host the USGA Junior Amateur Championship, which was won by Californian Brett Mullin. In August 1980, during a week of sweltering heat, Richland hosted and Amy Alcott won the 28th USGA Women’s Open Championship. Hollis Stacy was runner-up.

Richland Country Club in 1988 moved to its current golf course, a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course. Set along historic Granny White Pike, the course offers challenging golf, spectacular vistas, and championship conditions.

Amenities

The Waxo Greene Grille offers casual dining with dramatic views of the course and a fireplace around which you have a popular room to relax with friends. The exercise room is fully equipped with treadmills, rowing, exercise bikes, free weighs and circuit weight machines.

Richland Tennis Center offers year-round play in one of the most beautiful settings in Tennessee. Outdoor tennis is played on six well manicured championship Har-Tru courts as well as two hard courts, all of which are lighted for extended evening play. The swimming pool is open daily from 10:00am until 8:00pm, Tuesday through Sunday beginning the Saturday before Memorial Day and continuing through Labor Day.
